About the Workshop

Overview:


This workshop provides a foundational introduction to visually compelling filmmaking, covering framing, composition, lighting techniques, and working with talent on-set. Participants will gain practical experience to help them start thinking like a filmmaker, but this is just the beginning of their creative journey.



What You’ll Learn:


Framing & Composition: Understand the rule of thirds, leading lines, and depth to enhance visual storytelling.


Lighting Techniques: Explore hard vs. soft light, DIY lighting solutions, and shaping light for a cinematic look.


Working with Talent: Learn how to direct and communicate with actors on set for natural and engaging performances.


Hands-On Film Challenge: Apply these skills in a 30-second short film exercise, focusing on exposure, lighting, and composition.


Gear & Budget Tips: Discover essential starter equipment and DIY filmmaking hacks to elevate production quality without breaking the bank.


This workshop is designed to introduce key filmmaking concepts and provide a practical foundation, but it is just a stepping stone into the world of visual storytelling. Participants will leave with a stronger understanding of the fundamentals and the confidence to continue developing their skills.
